When it rains it pours

“'I’m gonna sing in the middle of the storm, Louder and louder, you're gonna hear my praises roar, Up from the ashes hope will arise, Death is defeated, the King is alive”

SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 30:5 (TPT)

VERSE FOR TODAY: Every promise from the faithful God is pure and proves to be true. He is a wraparound shield of protection for all his lovers who run to hide in him.

In Louisiana, we deal with many hurricanes, and one season was particularly bad (we had seven storms; typically, we might get two). As soon as we thought the season was over and we put everything away and sighed a breath of relief, another storm was coming. Sometimes our life is like that. As soon as we get through one storm and we think it's all over, things are settling down, and we can get back to life, as usual, boom, another storm. And it's like are you kidding me? In our lives, the enemy likes to wear us down like he will send one storm after another, and it seems like you can never get your head above water. And you’re just trying to get that deep breath so that you can keep going; another storm hits, and another.

Today I’d like to break down our verse for today. Proverbs 30:5 “Every promise from the faithful God is pure and proves to be true. He is a wraparound shield of protection for all his lovers who run to hide in him.”

“Every promise from the faithful God is pure and proves to be true”: I like that some translations use words that God’s word is flawless. I love that. That we can count on the word of God because it is flawless. Isn’t that an amazing word? To me, it's just like, wow, every promise that he has made me, no matter if it’s for me, my kids, whoever God has given you, a promise you can stand assured in from the faithful God that it is pure and proves to be true. It is a daily walk, something we have to hear every day and know and understand and get in our spirit because the enemy comes and wants to steal, kill and destroy. The moment God gives us something, the enemy comes to try to steal it so that you would want to wallow in the poor me. I’ve just got one storm after another storm. We know that he is faithful, which means he is consistent. He is always there; he is always ready to give you answers. How do we know it proves to be true? When we choose to pick up the word of God, it tells us one after another after another after another where he has come through in every type of situation, whether it was sickness, war, or battle of the mind, no matter what it was God came through he helped different people in their various situations

“He is a wraparound shield of protection for all his lovers who run to hide in him”: I love this part. I love this part. I immediately have this vision of this giant soldier with a shield that wrapped around his body and then little ole me peeking out behind at the devil saying, haha, I’m hidden in my God. My God is bigger than anything you could throw at me. I don't care if you send me another storm. That's okay because I am in Christ, and he's got a wraparound shield that can catch everything he throws at me. So no matter if you are facing another storm, we know that we can hide in God, that he will keep us safe. We may not get our answers today, but we can be assured that his promises are true, they’re pure, they don’t fail, they will be there, and we can hold on to those words and stand firm and know that even though the battle rages even though the storm is going all over me, God is able to keep me and restore to me the things that the enemy has taken. I’d love it if you took some time to listen to the song “I raise a hallelujah” right now. The words of this song really speak to this message here today.

Prayer Thoughts: God is with you, he has not left you, he has not forgotten you, he knows where you are, and just know that in this storm, it’s not going to last, there is an end, and you’re going to get through it. Amen.
