Perfectly Imperfect
"We are perfect the way we are because that is how he intended us to be"
SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 2:10
VERSE FOR TODAY: For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
So many of us what our lives to be pristine. Some people make a list: their husband will look like "this", they will get "this" job, they will get married, have the perfect house, perfect car, perfect 3 little kids and everything will just be perfect. But life isn't perfect and when they set themselves up to believe it will be their dreams get shattered. Life isn't supposed to be perfect. God has a way of brining us back to being centered and reminding us that the only thing perfect is Him. He requires us to strive to be like Him but we will never reach perfection until we reach heaven.
Sometimes we look at ourselves and wish we were skinnier or had more weight, a different eye color, or smarter, more talented. God did not create us to be like everyone elses. He made us uniquely original. We may see ourselves as imperfect but God says we are perfect the way we are because that is how he intended us to be. God loves us the way we are, however we should never settle and should continue to strive to be better everyday. We shouldn't try to change ourselves and everyone around us to be perfect. God doesn't want us to stress about the things we cannot change because we are his masterpiece. We have to accept ourselves and others for the way God has created us. Celebrate everyone's talents.
Put your trust in Christ, he created you this way and all of the things that are frustrating you right now, and life not quite lining up the way you wanted it to right now, trust that God has got this, in his time he will take them into the place of "perfection" that he wants them to be. God is making something beautiful out of you and me. He's still working out his masterpiece in us.
Prayer thoughts:
There will always be someone who has a little more than you and there will always be someone who has a little less than you. Stop comparing. Start embracing where you're at right now. Because you won't even be happy when you get to where you're going if you don't learn to love your imperfect, everyday life. - Jordan Lee Dooley
