Peace

“Our family, our loved ones, our jobs, our churches they are not our peace. Jesus is that peace”

VERSE FOR TODAY: Luke 2:14

SCRIPTURE: “Glory to God in the highest,

And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.” - Luke 2:14

At this time of year, people often use the phrases “peace on earth” and “I’m praying for peace” “May you have peace this Christmas” but the world doesn’t really know what peace is. For the world, peace is no riots, no hate, and all these different things that happen in our world, which is not the peace that the angels were talking about.

As long as sin is on this earth there is no peace on the earth.

“Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.” - Luke 2:14 The peace that is being referred to is not outwardly peace it’s inward peace, and the only one who can provide that peace is Jesus Christ. He is the only one that can give us that peace. When you accept Christ as your savior you are given that peace. The angels were saying that peace had been born in Bethlehem. Peace in the form of man had come and that peace wanted to be shared with the whole world so we could know that peace.

1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, - Romans 5:1 There is no strife between God and me because of what Christ did when he came. Christ when he was born was not only the peace in our hearts but the peace between God and us so that we can come to God and bring our needs before him.

‘Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. - John 14:27

God wanted to leave us His peace so that while living in a world of turmoil we can still live peacefully because of what he had done. God gives the peace that passes all understanding. He gives hope in the midst of all the bad in the world. Our family, our loved ones, our jobs, our churches they are not our peace. Jesus is that peace.

Prayer Thoughts:

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” - John 16:33
