If the God of the universe has a plan then I know that I can rest

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 142:3

VERSE FOR TODAY: When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walk have they hidden a snare for me.

Everybody gets overwhelmed. Sometimes you just want to check out for a while, turn off the phone, tv, and just sit in a corner by yourself because you just can’t take another piece of bad news. Your hope, joy, and strength have to come from the Lord. The presence of the Lord is where you can feel free from burdens. God knows your path even in the midst of an overwhelming situation. You can rest knowing that even though all these things are going on around you from every angle, God knows your path. God is leading you somewhere. Rest in the sovereignty of God. We may not like what’s going on around us, or the bad news that we hear, but God is sovereign and he has a plan, one that we don’t understand the majority of the time but if the God of the universe has a plan then I know that I can rest. Let that be your mantra. He is going to take care of me.

Sometimes we are the only bible people will ever read, or the only Jesus they will ever see, and when they see it through us, especially in those times when we’re overwhelmed with one bad thing after another they’re encouraged, they’re brought into the kingdom, they want to serve a God who takes care of his people like that.

Philippians 4:6-7 “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

God promises to give us peace but his word says that we must come to him with thanksgiving. Come to Him and say, "thank you God for giving me strength, for giving me joy in the midst of sadness, for supplying my needs, for taking care of me," and then bring those things to Him and ask Him to meet your needs. Thank him for what he has done, what he is going to do, and what he is doing right now. He wants us to come to Him. He doesn’t want us to walk around overwhelmed. He wants us to walk around saying I serve a God who is going to supply every need and even when my prayer doesn’t get answered the way I wanted it to knowing he still has a plan and someone’s life will change because of it. God takes everything that looks bad and turns it for our good.

Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

If you are weary today go to God. He will give you peace, joy, and rest. Give it to God.

Prayer thoughts:

You might not be able to see where you're headed, but I assure you, The Lord can. And he's holding your hand. He's breathing life into every aspect of your present and future. He's shining His light even in the darkest corners of your mind. So hold tight to Him. Hold tight to His love, knowing he will never leave you or forsake you, and because of Jesus you are in His grip forever. No uncertainty, no broken dreams, and no fear of the future can keep you from Him. He is with You always, in all of this. Trust Him. Believe. And let him gracefully lead you where you need to be.
