His Name Will Be Called

'"His peace surpasses all understanding."

SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 9:6

VERSE FOR TODAY:“For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”

Let’s start by diving into what each of the words mean that are used to describe God.

Wonderful: inspiring delight, pleasure, or admiration; extremely good; marvelous.

Counselor: a person who gives advice or counseling.

Mighty: possessing might; powerful.

Eternal:having infinite duration; everlasting.

Peace: a state of tranquility or quiet. 

Our God is marvelous, He is the one we go to to seek counsel and advice. His works and miracles are mighty. He never leaves us, he never lets us down. God's love as a father goes beyond any earthly idea of a father. He gives us what we need and allows us to make our own mistakes and then picks us up when we do. 

He rules this world and our lives. He brings peace when we need it. All we have to do is ask for it. 

“‘Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.” - Isaiah 7:14 This is another name: Immanuel meaning God with us. He is with you every step of the way and that is why I adore him because he is my wonderful counselor, mighty god, eternal father, mighty prince of peace, and Immanuel. 

Whatever you may be going through this Christmas season whether it be grief, loss, discouragement, depression, God is with you. He is your eternal father, he is not going to leave you in despair. He is with you to bring you the peace that you need in the midst of this situation that you’re going through, in the midst of your pain, he is your peace. His peace surpasses all understanding. He loves you, just reach out and hold on to Him and know that he is with you and remember that he is your wonderful counselor, might God, eternal father, and your prince of peace.

Wonderful, glorious, holy, and righteous

Victorious, conqueror, triumphant and mighty 

Healer, deliverer, shield and defense 

Strong tower and my best friend 

Omnipotent, omipresent 

Soon coming king 

Alpha, omega, lord of everything
